The French government's ban, introduced on Sunday, has now been eased to allow French citizens, British colrado living in France and hauliers to travel - if they test negative less than 72 hours before departure.

The Port of Dover also urged passengers not to turn up without a negative coronavirus test. Mr Jenrick told BBC Radio 4's Today programme it is likely to take "a few days" to clear the backlog of lorries that have built up. He said there would be "multiple testing sites" at Manston Airport and elsewhere. Rapid "lateral flow" tests will be used, which can detect the new variant and work like a pregnancy test to give a result in about 30 minutes.
